सरकारी डेंटल कालेज में मंगलवार सुबह लैब में काम करते समय अचानक स्प्रिट लैंप फटने से तीन छात्राएं झुलस गईं। उन्हें तुरंत राजिंदरा अस्पताल में दाखिल कराया।
संबंधित आफिसर कालोनी पुलिस चौकी से मिली जानकारी के मुताबिक बीडीएस सेकेंड ईयर की स्टूडेंट्स गुरमन, श्रुति और भावना मंगलवार सुबह करीब 11 बजे सरकारी डेंटल कालेज की लैब में प्रैक्टिकल वर्क कर रही थीं। इस दौरान लैब के काम के दौरान लैंप में स्प्रिट खत्म हो गया। स्प्रिट डालने के बाद जब वे दोबारा से लैंप को जलाने लगीं, तो अचानक लैंप फट गया। इसके कारण तीनों छात्राएं झुलस गईं। छात्राओं के मुंह और बाजूएं जल गई हैं। ....NEWSLINK

Tragic Accidental death of MDS student
In a freak accident, a 25-year-old dentist was killed on the spot after a lorry fell on her at Agaraguruki bypass on Bengaluru-Hyderabad (NH-7) Road, in the wee hours of Monday. The Chikkaballapura police have identified the deceased as Dr Jerlene Rose Pappachan, who was pursuing her first year MDS in orthodontics at Yenepoya Dental College in Mangaluru. She is a native of Kottayam and had moved to Mangaluru for her studies.

Japan invents toothbrush with ear phones
Researchers in Japan have discovered that how effectively we clean our teeth and how satisfied we are with the brushing job we do depends a lot on the sound of the bristles scrubbing against the enamel. In trials with volunteer teeth cleaners, the team has used a tiny microphone in a modified toothbrush to ‘sample’ the sound being made in the mouth during brushing and to modulate it and then feed that sound back to the volunteer via headphones to see what effect it would have on cleaning efficacy and satisfaction. Researchers discover unique muscle fibres linked to sleep apnoea and snoring
In the study, a team of researchers from Umeå University investigated whether snoring vibrations and tissue stretch can cause neuromuscular damage in the upper airways and result in obstructive sleep apnoea and swallowing dysfunctions. In comparing muscles from both healthy subjects and obstructive sleep apnoea patients, they discovered a unique group of muscle fibres prevalent in snorers and those suffering from sleep apnoea. Solan, Dec 13 (UNI)A 26-year-old student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with the fan at his house in industrial township of Baddi, police said.

MDS Entrance deferred
The entrance examination for admission to postgraduate dental courses in the state, scheduled on January 3, 2016, has been postponed. The revised examination date and notification of details for the online application will be announced in due course, a statement from the office of the commissioner of entrance examinations said here on Friday.

Pre RCT pain leads to more anesthesia failure
The current study focused on the lower teeth of more than 175 adults in India. These patients were rated as having mild, moderate, or severe pain in one lower-jaw molar before their root canal. All were given a standard local anesthetic. The injection was considered a failure if the patient continued to feel pain during the root canal procedure. The authors found that the amount of pain presurgery affected the successfulness of the anesthesia. Patients with more pain before the root canal were more likely to feel pain during the procedure. In the study, 33% of patients with mild pain before the root canal felt no pain or only mild pain during the procedure, but only 16% of patients with severe pain had a painless surgery….NEWSLINK …….Article LINK
