Indian dentist wins top honor in Australia
A Kerala dentist settled in Melbourne has been honoured with the highest civilian honour, the Order of Australia. Dr. Sajeev Koshy was given the award for his service to dentistry in Victoria, Australia.
Dr. Koshy, who has served as the president of the Kerala Dental Council, president of the Indian Dental Association, was honoured on the Australia Day Awards 2016, by the Governor General of Australia.
Koshy is currently the head of the endodontics at the Royal Melbourne Dental Hospital, which is the teaching hospital for the University of Melbourne.
Dr. Koshy has received many awards for his services to the community, However, the highest civilians honour of Australia is the biggest award he could get.MORE HERE
Dental colleges are big violators of rules
As per DCI there are 276 private dental colleges in India. Contributions to the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) are mandatory for those earning up to Rs. 15,000 a month in all organisations with 20 or more employees. Of the 276 private dental colleges, nearly 117 have not yet registered themselves with the EPFO, while 17 have defaulted on employees’ PF contributions after their enrolment.
“All offices are requested to verify the level of compliance by dental colleges in their jurisdiction and take action against those who have failed to comply with the law,” the memo said, calling for an action-taken report from PF offices by the first week of February. MORE HERE

PG students Get selected to Govt job
The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) issued an advertisement for recruitment to the posts of 211 Dental Surgeons in the Group A (Junior) category of the Odisha Medical Service (Dental) cadre and conducted examination for the purpose. But it called only 152 candidates for counselling by not even publishing the test results of the rest 59 applicants leading to suspicion in public.

Scientists have found a new method to deliver anaesthesia using a tiny electric current instead of a needle. The advance could help improve dental procedures, save money and avoid contamination and infection, researchers said.
