Dental student death sparks protest
LUCKNOW: Students of Sardar Patel Institute went on the rampage on Wednesday following death of a fellow student due to alleged negligence of doctors. The protest caused a massive traffic jam on the Rae Bareli road, blocking movement to and from Mohanlalganj, Rae Bareli and Allahabad.
Deodhar Majumdaar, a native of Belonia, South Tripura had taken admission to Sardar Patel Institute three years back and was pursuing BDS. After 2 wheeler accident Majumdaar was rushed to the institute where doctors began treating him. On the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday his condition deteriorated and Majumdaar succumbed to the injuries around 3am. ..TOI NEWS

For the first time in the state, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has appointed an expert committee to interact with students in order to understand the problems they face in their colleges. Dr Arun Jamkar, vice chancellor, MUHS, said, “We recently started this drive and got a good response from students. The committee interacted with the students and understood their grievances. US Dentist charged with stealing gold
Federal prosecutors have charged a Lincoln dentist with stealing nearly $17,000 worth of precious metals from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Omaha.
Prosecutors say Randall Toothaker had been working in the hospital’s dental prosthetics office before the alleged theft last summer.

Cause of periodontitis related to type 2 diabetes
Modulating the responses of B cells in blood cells may effectively treat or prevent the symptoms of type 2 diabetes and periodontitis simultaneously, according to a new study in the Journal of Leukocyte Biology (August 2014, Vol. 96:2, pp. 349-357).
