Retirement age increased in Dental colleges
NAGPUR: In an effort to retain maximum possible medical teachers until 2015, when the state government completes the process of filling up all vacant posts in medical colleges, the Medical Education and Drugs Department has increased the retirement age of teachers in all 14 government medical colleges and three dental colleges from 62 to 63 years, and in the four government ayurvedic colleges to 70 years.
The decision is applicable from the date of the Government Resolution (GR) dated July 28, 2014. ..TOINEWS

A private dental college in Madurai has left 17 of its students in the lurch. The college has allegedly duped the students and enrolled them beyond the permitted number of seats. Now, the future of education of the 17 students hangs in balance as they have been denied hall tickets to write their semester exams.

Police complaint against 12 diagnostic centers
People for Better Treatment (PBT), a non-profit that fights medical negligence in India, has filed complaints in nine police stations against 12 diagnostic centres seeking criminal prosecution of persons running these centres which were exposed by a sting operation as giving commissions to doctors for referrals. Diabetes increased risk of Cancer
Taiwan: According to the findings of a new study, diabetes patients could have an increased risk of developing head and neck cancer. In a study of almost 90,000 participants, researchers from China have found that the risks of oral cavity cancer, oropharyngeal cancer, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma were higher in patients with diabetes mellitus compared with participants without the condition.
