Dental colleges flout rules in MDS admissions
CHENNAI: Admissions of 41 postgraduate dental students have been declared invalid by the state medical university nearly a year after they joined various self-financing medical colleges in Tamil Nadu. The university refused to register these MDS students admitted in 2013 after it was found that they did not either appear or clear the mandatory common entrance test.
Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University officials said the decision was taken by the governing council earlier this year and it was conveyed to the colleges in April. TOI NEWS

London: 53-year-old dentist James Hull, who owned England’s biggest private car fleet of 543 classic cars, has sold the complete collection to Jaguar Land Rover for 100 million pounds.Today, it was disclosed that the complete car collection was bought by Jaguar Land Rover though it was at first put up for sale for a whopping 100 million pounds in May. Protest held at Dental college
National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Saturday protested at Panjab University’s dental college in Sector 25 against ‘anomalies’ in functioning of the college and problems faced by students.
Memorandums were given to vice-chancellor Arun K Grover, the college as well as dean student welfare Navdeep Goyal. NSUI highlighted that breakage charges paid by the students at the college were as high as Rs 16,000. “Even after paying that, if anything is broken by students during practicals or practice, they have to pay extra charges for that. These breakage charges are also non-refundable,” complained party president Hardeep Singh. NEWSLINK
Women dies after wisdom tooth extraction
Doctors are warning people of the danger of infection from invasive medical procedures such as dental work, after a recent case in which a young woman nearly died from inflammation of a heart valve after having a wisdom tooth removed.
Following medical treatment, if a person experiences fatigue, fever, lack of appetite or unusual weight loss, the patient should see a doctor to determine the cause because the symptoms could be due to an infection, said Chiu Kuang-ming, the head of the Cardiovascular Surgery Section at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital in New Taipei City. Swedish researchers find source about soft tissues of tooth
STOCKHOLM, July 28 (Xinhua) — Swedish researchers have recently published a new study that stem cells inside the soft tissues of the tooth come from an unexpected source, namely nerves.
“Today we do not have the possibility of growing new teeth in adults, but the discovery of this new type of stem cells is an important step towards the knowledge and technology that is required to make it a future possibility,” said the statement. MORE HERE

New Delhi: Actor R. Madhavan, who reportedly lost 15 kg for his role as a boxer in `Laal`, says he has now undergone a dental transformation for a movie, whose name he has not disclosed.

NEW treatment for pulpitis developed
Pulpitis, a common inflammation of the dental pulp, is a global public health problem. However, treatment strategies for pulpitis are aggressive, costly, painful and outdated, according to U.S. researchers. The scientists have thus developed a less invasive technique that uses nanoparticles to deliver therapeutic agents to the pulp.
