Studying Tooth Enamel Nanostructure May Lead To Less Time With The Dentist’s Drill
Though it’s been known for decades that various trace ions are important for tooth enamel’s tough structure, it had been impossible to map their distribution in meaningful detail.

It allowed us to make out the enamel’s nanoscale composition and structure. Our research identified never-before-seen amorphous biominerals and how they contribute to both mechanical hardness and the resistance of enamel to acid dissolution. Understanding more about the mechanism of how teeth decay will hopefully lead to innovations in its prevention and treatment. FULL ARTICLE

The infection with both can double the number of caries and increase their severity as it did for rats in the study. Candida albicans adheres mainly to the cheek and tongue, while Streptococcus mutans sticks to the surfaces of teeth by converting sugars to a sticky glue-like material called extracellular polysaccharide (EPS). Hair loss- take care of teeth
A research carried out by the International and American Associations showed that there is a direct link between hair loss and vulnerability to dental cavities. The researchers focused on hair keratins since they have structural organic components similar to those of mature elements. The findings were so accurate that many prominent dentists concurred with.
Hair and teeth have a common development mechanism, though the main structural components forming them differ. After examining various case studies, the researchers found out that, epithelial hair keratins are indeed very important components of teeth enamel, hence mutation in the keratins heighten the danger of dental caries and defects. Common hair disorders, therefore, have a direct link with dental decays. LINKNano tech for plaque
The positively charged outer layer of the carrier is able to stay in place at the surface of the teeth because the enamel is made up, in part, of HA (hydroxyapatite), which is negatively charged. Just as oppositely charged magnets are attracted to each other, the same is true of the nanoparticles and HA. Because teeth are coated with saliva, the researchers weren’t certain the nanoparticles would adhere. But not only did the particles stay in place, they were also able to bind with the polymeric matrix and stick to dental plaque. LINK
