BDS girl students lodge ragging plea against seniors
Some girl students of People’s Dental Academy lodged ragging complaint against six senior girls of the college, here on Saturday. The complaint was lodged on anti-ragging portal of the UGC. IT raids on educational institutes
Last week, officials  raided the houses of Keshav and Ashok Agarwal and Dev Murti. Rs 29 crore in cash and gold bars weighing around 6 kg, valued at more than Rs 1.5 crore, were recovered.
While the Agarwals run the Rohilkhand Medical and Dental College, Murti is owner of the SRMS group. The raids have exposed also the hefty fees charged in capitation fees and for admission. . LINK

Natural dentition at risk of extinction
Over the past few years, it appears that there has been increase in continuing education. Many of the courses are about implant dentistry and the conventional courses that form the basis of learning the skills of saving teeth have been fewer in number. Obviously, everybody wants to learn how to surgically place a dental implant.
It appears that some apparent “need” of patients has driven clinicians to subscribe to these weekend courses in surgery so they can respond to these patient “needs.” However, patients see their dentist regularly to save their teeth, not to have their teeth sacrificed for implant dentistry. CBI raids at Kerala MCI/college
CBI today carried out searches at the office of the MCI here and at a medical college in Thiruvananthapuram in connection with alleged corruption in the granting of recognition to the institute in Kerala.
Searches were conducted at the residential and official premises of MCI Additional Secretary Prasanna Raj, Deputy Secretary Anshu Sethi Bajaj, ex-consultant Madhu Handa and Principal of Somervell Medical College, Samson Nessaih. LINK          LINK 2

In 2010, severe periodontitis was the sixth most prevalent condition in the world affecting 743 million people worldwide. Implant- cost vs benefit
Given the current economic situation, dental health care expenditure will probably slow down or even be reduced. With budget cuts and savings deemed necessary in the EU for the coming decade, an insecure situation or the perception thereof by many patients will require difficult choices. In many countries, national health or private insurance seldom reimburses patients for implant prostheses, leading to large groups of patients requiring replacements but being without the means to pay for them.
