Dentist sued by patient for broken rct instrument
A woman is suing a North Side dentist (Chicago) for malpractice, claiming he left a broken piece of a dental instrument embedded in her tooth canal for several months and performed procedures on the wrong tooth.
Nicole Pradun filed the suit in Cook County Circuit Court Thursday, naming Oradent Associates Ltd., 6258 N. Lincoln Ave., and one of its doctors as defendants. MORE HERE

Gum disease SILENT KILLER- confirmed in a large study
Periodontal disorders such as tooth loss and gingivitis have been identified as a potential risk marker for cardiovascular disease in a large study reported April 9, 2014. More than 15,000 patients with chronic coronary heart disease provided information on their dental health, with results showing that indicators of periodontal disease (fewer remaining teeth, gum bleeding) were common in this patient group and associated with numerous cardiovascular and socioeconomic risk factors. The research, presented at The International Association of Dental Research in Seattle earlier this year, found a previously-unknown link between missing teeth and a person’s quality of life. London, April 12 (IANS) Late singer Elvis Presley will be honoured by dentists in Britain in next month with Elvis Day. A model of his teeth and dental crown will be displayed to promote mouth cancer awareness.

Aarushi’s parents seek stay on ‘Rahasya’ film’s release
Dentist couple Nupur and Rajesh Talwar, serving life sentence for murdering their teenage daughter Aarushi, today refuted claims of the Censor Board that the soon to be released film ‘Rahasya’ has no similarity to her murder and sought stay on its release till their appeal is heard and decided by the Allahabad High Court.

That is a common question when patients have the potentially dangerous combination of abscessed or infected teeth and the need for heart surgery. In such cases, problem teeth are often removed before surgery to reduce the risk of infections, including endocarditis, an infection of the inner lining of the heart that can prove deadly. But Mayo Clinic research suggests it may not be as simple as pulling teeth: the study found that roughly 1 in 10 heart surgery patients who had troublesome teeth extracted before surgery died or had adverse outcomes such as a stroke or kidney failure.
