High court orders dental college to pay penalty
In a setback to Manipal College of Dental Sciences and Hospital and Manipal School, the high court on Friday January 3 dismissed its appeal against Mescom’s directive to pay penalty for using unauthorized electricity extension from KMC.

Why implant price is going DOWN
The world’s largest dental implant maker, Straumann, will cut the price of its standard titanium implants by around 15 percent in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the firm’s chief executive told a Swiss newspaper on Sunday.
The Swiss company said its price gap with rivals must be reduced, and that it may adjust prices in other parts of Europe at a later date. NEWSLINK

Dentist killed in road accident
In a tragic road mishap, a dentist Dr. M.S. Anil Kumar residing in Sharadadevi Nagar in city and running a clinic at Kollegal was killed when the Maruti Swift (KA-03, MB-5831) in which he was travelling with his father and son from Channapatna to Mysore, was hit by a car from behind before jumping over the road divider near K. Settihalli on Mysore-Bangalore road yesterday evening.

Days of corrupt council members are numbered
The selection of the state representatives to the Medical Council of India (MCI) is running into a controversy with cases being filed against the selection process in the high court. Even the nomination of Dr Rani Nair as the state government representative has been objected to by a Kolkata-based organization, People for Better Treatment (PBT).
