DCI gets a NEW Vice President ?
The Dental Council of India Vice President, Prof Dr Mahesh Mehta, has advised the government to open more dental hospitals than dental colleges, so that high-level dental care facilities can be extended to the grassroot levels.
Dr Mehta said the country was producing over 25,000 dental doctors annually and there was no need to open more dental colleges. He said that by opening more dental colleges we might be producing more dental doctors but unable to provide jobs to them. He said some of them were not capable of setting up their own independent practice as it require very high level of skills to operate in emergency.
Dr Mehta, who is also a president of the Dental Association of India and the Director-Principal of the Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences hails from a small village, Jagat-Khanna of Bilaspur district. NEWSLINK
Manipal Dental college raided
The Manipal college for dental sciences and hospital, located behind KMC, Attavar, was raided by the officials of MESCOM vigilance department on Monday December 9 following a complaint by social worker Mr. Haneef PS that the establishment was using illegal power supply.
On investigation, it was reportedly found that the Manipal college had no licence from the city corporation. It is suspected that electricity was being taken from KMC hospital for the last 2-3 years.Sources said that if proved guilty of violation, a penalty of approximately Rs 8 crore may be imposed. Dentist, 2 daughters killed in plane crash
Dentist and his two daughters were identified as the victims of a private airplane that crashed at 6:20 p.m. Sunday in Jacksonville.
The victims are Michael Huber, 60, and his daughters Tess Huber, 20, and Abigail Huber, 17, all of Port St. Lucie, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. NEWSLINK n Video
