Recent study published in PLOS One, November 2013, Vol. 8:11, e74186, concluded..
- cephalograms are not routinely needed for Class II malocclusions;
- digital models can be used to replace plaster casts;
- CBCT radiographs may be indicated for impacted canines.
Based on the findings of the present review, the minimum record set required for orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning remains undefined. FULL PAPER

Indian origin-UK dentist who filmed girl undressing is struck-off
A DENTIST who used his iPhone to secretly record a 16-year-old girl undressing has been struck off the professional register.
Gurminder Singh Jutla was banned from practising by the General Dental Council (GDC) yesterday following his conviction for voyeurism.
The 29-year-old, of Stainburn Crescent, Moortown, Leeds, was arrested last August when the teenager caught him filming her in a room where she was changing her clothes. NEWSLINK

A Dental College which was raided by CBI and now under investigation. DCI inspector of said college is being put to severe stress due to being called for interrogations.
So prospective DCI inspectors would rather stick to rules and give report based on evidence in college and not succumbing to pressure and change report which might put them at risk at a later date.

NY dentist injured in train crash on way to Dental meeting
A New York dentist who as traveling to the Greater New York Dental Meeting sustained minor cuts and bruises after escaping Sunday’s train crash in the Bronx that left four dead and dozens injured.
Joel Zaritsky, DDS, who practices at LaGrange Dental, told the Poughkeepsie Journal, “It was absolutely horrific. I’m so happy to be alive.” NEWSLINK

Cessation Age of Breast-feeding and Pacifier Use is Associated With Persistent Finger-sucking
Studies have reported that breast-feeding and pacifier use influence finger-sucking, few have demonstrated whether the age at cessation of breast-feeding or pacifier use and persistent finger-sucking are related. Tthis study examined whether the age at cessation of breast-feeding and pacifier use influenced persistent finger-sucking.

Brown has a small earpiece, which is essentially a microphone, in his right ear.
It transmits sound to a mouthpiece that has been fitted onto his back teeth, much like a retainer.

Poor Oral Health, Junk Food Increase Risk of Premature Heart Disease
The association between poor oral health and increased risk of cardiovascular disease should make the reduction of sugars such as those contained in junk food, particularly fizzy drinks, an important health policy target, say experts writing in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine.
Author from University of Cambridge, who co-wrote the paper, said: “As well as having high levels of fats and salt, junk foods often contain a great deal of sugar and the effect this has on oral health may be an important additional mechanism by which junk food elevates risk of CVD.” ...MORE HERE
