State dental council to begin inspection of dental clinics
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All dental clinics in Kerala will have to get registration from the state dental council. The government took such a decision after several complaints arose that people with no adequate qualification were opening dental clinics in several parts of the state. The government has decided to give powers to the state dental council to inspect and scrutinize the certificates of doctors who are running clinics. MORE HERE
Delhi dentist bites, beats and burns teen maid
NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old girl employed as a domestic worker has been rescued with injuries allegedly inflicted by her employer, a dentist (Dr Nidhi Chaudhary), who lives in Model Town’s Kalyan Vihar in north-west Delhi. A tribal from Jharkhand, the child was allegedly bitten, beaten and burnt in the past four months after she was placed there by an agency, according to Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).
The police have registered an FIR invoking sections pertaining to “causing hurt” and under Bonded Labour Act, said DCP, north-west, Aslam Khan. She said the employer, Nidhi Chaudhary, has been arrested. The office of the placement agency was raided on Friday night after the girl was rescued. It is suspected that the girl may have been bought by an agent from Jharkhand. NEWSLINK
14-year-old allegedly sodomized by dentist
PATNA: A 14-year-old boy was allegedly sodomized by a dentist at the latter’s residence located at Biscaumaun colony under Alamganj police station in the state capital on Monday night.
The dentist was identified as Amitabh Tiwary (42), who runs a dental clinic in Kankarbagh area in Patna.
Police sources said that the boy is a class-IX student of a private school in the Patna City area. MORE HERE
All Dental clinic should screen for diabetes- Amsterdam study
The researchers have said that 18% of people with gum disease did not have diabetes yet the fact remains that 23% of the people with severe gum disease were diabetic and 47% were prediabetic. Although the authors agree to the fact that this is a purely observational study yet it would be useful to make the dentist’s office a preliminary place to test for a prediabetes or diabetes condition early to avoid complications due to late diagnosis and better management.FULL STORY
