DCI asks Faculty report every 3 months from colleges
To put an end to the fly-by-night faculty system, the DCI has shot off a circular asking colleges to submit a report on its teaching staff once every three months. Till now, the colleges would send a report annually, just before the DCI inspection. Dentist booked after 3 year old death after rct
PUNE: A three-year-old girl was declared dead after taking root canal treatment from a pediatric dentist at Kothrud on June 29. The police, who have booked the dentist under section 304(A) of the IPC (causing death due to negligence), said they did not arrest him as the case would first be looked into by the district medical negligence committee. Thousands exposed to HIV in Dental clinic

More than 11,000 dental patients in the Australian city of Sydney may have been exposed to HIV and hepatitis because of unhygienic practices at four clinics across the city.
New South Wales (NSW) health authorities said on Thursday the disease risk was caused by poor cleaning and sterilization techniques at the four dental practices, Xinhua news agency reported. There are around 90,000 Indian-origin people in Sydney…MORE HERE

In Taiwan, a dentist pulled out a molar tooth from a patient’s mouth with a Guava sprout growing from the roots. The man had sought dental assistance when he was experiencing immense pain in his tooth and thought it to be tooth decay. DCI Denies admission to Govt Dental college
Bellary: The district unit of the Hyderabad-Karnataka Horata Samiti and the Karnataka Yuvaka Sangha have condemned the “indifferent attitude” of the State government in providing facilities to the Government Dental College and Research Institute here. They said that the college lacked basic infrastructure and had not been recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI).
The college was permitted by the DCI to admit students based on the assurances given by the government to address the deficiencies. With the State government not taking steps to provide facilities, the DCI had denied permission to the college to admit students for 2015-16. LINK
