HC allows Punjab’s dental colleges- MDS admi under mgmt quota
The Punjab and Haryana high court on Wednesday allowed dental colleges of Punjab to make admissions to post-graduate (PG) dental courses under the management quota in their respective institutes.
The high court order came on a petition of 11 colleges under the banner of the Punjab Private Self-Financed Dental and Medical Colleges Association, which earlier on Wednesday challenged the June 8 letter of the director, research and medical education, Punjab, which had “virtually” barred the institutes from making admissions to the Master in Dental Surgery (MDS) courses. Painkillers before Oral Surgery Fail to Ensure Relief
Giving drugs before surgery to reduce post-operative pain is nothing new. With today’s widespread misuse of prescription drugs for post-operative pain, using drugs before surgery to reduce use of painkillers could be highly desirable. But does it work?
The studies reported that giving ibuprofen before or after surgery resulted in the same levels of pain, facial oedema, and limited mouth opening. Ketoprofen, another NSAID, was given at different dosages before surgery in different studies, but the results were the same. According to the studies reviewed, no great improvements in pain relief were found with any other drugs given before surgery. NEWSLINK
