HC quashes entrance test for NRIs
BENGALURU: The high court on Thursday quashed the January 16, 2015 circular issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI) on the entrance examination for NRI students for admission to the MBBS course from 2015-16.
Allowing a batch of petitions filed by SN Medical College, Bagalkot, and others, a division bench comprising Justices BS Patil and PS Dinesh Kumar officiating at the Dharwad bench held that as per the dictum of the apex court in the PA Inamdar case in 2005, either the Centre or the state government can bring in legislation to regulate admissions and the MCI circular runs contrary to it. Dental/medical teachers move to High Court
As many as 88 medical and dental teachers working in state-run medical and dental colleges in Patiala and Amritsar have decided to move the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the state Finance Department. They alleged the department had failed to correct anomalies in their salaries even five years after the implementation of the Fifth Punjab Pay Commission report. LINK
