MDS admissions: Students get a kick in the teeth
CHENNAI: Several dental degree holders were denied post-graduate seats during the admission process held here earlier this week as self-financed colleges chose money over merit. All the eight colleges affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University together surrendered only 12% of Master of Dental Surgery seats against the 50% mandated by the Dental Council of India (DCI) regulations.
DCI regulations, passed in 2007, make it compulsory for non-governmental institutions to give up 50% of the total seats to the state government.. Dr Dibyendu Mazumder said the apex body will declare the counselling invalid if the allegations were true. TOI NEWS

A statement posted on the journal’s website said: “The article ‘Development of a guideline to approach plagiarism in Indian scenario’ is being retracted as the manuscript has been found to be copied from the first round questionnaire of the dissertation entitled ‘Developing a comprehensive guideline for overcoming and preventing plagiarism at the international level based on expert opinion with the Delphi method’ by Dr Mehdi Mokhtari.” MORE HERE

Won’t surrender seats Govt tell HC
The state government on Wednesday informed the High Court that it will not surrender its quota of post-graduate dental seats in private colleges. It also said a method will be evolved to protect the interests of good students.
A division bench of Justice K L Manjunath and Justice Raghvendra Chauhan disposed of the petition filed by 92 Bachelor of Dental Science graduates. NEWSLINK
