JSS college principal barred
The Medical Council of India (MCI) has approved the decision of its Ethics Committee to permanently debar principal of JSS Medical College, Mysuru, H. Basavanagowdappa, from taking up the posts of principal/dean, administrative, medical superintendent and/or any other teaching post in any medical college. MORE HERE

Dental colleges face threat of disaffiliation
The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has warned PDMC, Amravati, of de-affiliation if the college does not pay Rs 11 lakh fine imposed on it for admitting PG students for the year 2014-15 without seeking affiliation to the departments concerned.
The colleges fined included – MIMER, Talegaon Dhabade in Pune (Rs 5 lakh), VYMS Dental College Amravati (Rs 4lakh), YMT Medical College in Khargar (Rs10 lakh), Vasantdada Patil Dental College and Hospital Sangli (Rs 2 lakh), and SMBT Dental College in Ahmednagar (Rs 2 lakh). TOINEWS

MCI debars 7 ghost teachers – DCI listening ?
MCI) has debarred 7 ghost doctors.3 of the punished doctors hail from telangana and 4 from Andhra Pradesh. The doctors had their names as teaching/hospital faculty at a private medical institute in Puducherry. Students demand 50% MDS seats based on merit-games colleges PLAY
A group of aspirants for postgraduate dental colleges in the State have submitted a petition to the Health Secretary, demanding that 50 per cent of the seats in private colleges be allotted to students on the basis of merit.
A student said the Supreme Court has directed that 50 per cent of the seats have to be surrendered to government’s merit quota, but only very few seats are given to students who appear for the Tamil Nadu Post Graduate examination. “Even in the seat matrix released on Thursday, there are only a few seats for students on merit,” the student said, adding that the colleges gave very little time to the students to appeal, with the counselling on Friday. Health minister said in order to improve health services in the state, the government would appoint 6,072 doctors, including 2,666 specialized, 2838 general doctors besides dental surgeons. That apart, the government plans to regularize the contract doctors through BPSC. NEWSLINK
