Pregnant dentist sets self ablaze in Gujrat
RAJKOT: The medical fraternity in the city woke up to a shock when a female private practitioner committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at her house on Monday morning.
Dr Reena Chauhan, who was also five-month pregnant, doused herself with kerosene and set herself ablaze in her house in Bhomeshwar on Jamnagar road. Dr Chauhan was a dentist while her husband Dr Tejas Chauhan is an anaesthetist. Her neighbour Deepak Ahir suddenly heard shrieks...MORE ON TOI

Fee fixing bill introduced in parliament- IMA goes to court
Everybody would welcome it except doctors. Already the medical fraternity is agitating with uproar. Of course we are referring to a proposal raised in the Rajya Sabha to put a cap on doctors’ fee. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has even decided to go to Court in case the proposal is passed by the Parliament.

BDS interns protest lack of facilities

28 year Man dies after teeth pulled
A man died after he went to a faith healer to have his teeth extracted, police said Thursday.
The victim was identified as Jerry Aguirre, 28, a resident of Manapla, Negros Occidental.
His sister, Joane dela Cruz, said Aguirre went out to have his teeth pulled.
She thought her brother went to a doctor but it turned out that sought a faith healer’s help.
Dela Cruz said her brother was weak when he arrived home. He went to sleep, and they found him dead on his bed the following day. NEWS LINK

Stem cells from nerves form teeth
Researchers at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden have discovered that stem cells inside the soft tissues of the tooth come from an unexpected source, namely nerves. These findings are now being published in the journal Nature and contribute to brand new knowledge of how teeth are formed, how they grow and how they are able to self-repair.
